Kaneohe

Known for it's cooler weather and peaceful neighborhoods...

Kaneohe-  Meaning: “Bamboo Husband”

Once the Land of early Chiefs and Kings!

Located on the serene windward side of Oahu, Kaneohe is one of the two major towns right by the H-3 and Pali highways. The town is nestled between the beautiful Kaneohe Bay and the majestic Ko'olau Mountains, making it one of the most attractive and more affordable places in Hawaii right now. Kaneohe is officially known as the rainy side of the island which brings an abundance of lush beautiful greenery and rainbows all year round. Kaneohe can become your little heaven on earth.

Where to Eat and Shop:

The Windward Mall is the go-to place of the town where you can satisfy all your shopping cravings! Moreover, it has food courts and restaurants, so you can grab some fuel while your on your way to your next hike.

What to Do:

Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden, On 400 green acres in Kaneohe, Hoomaluhia Botanical Garden is the largest of several public botanical gardens across the island. Ho'omaluhia provides epic views of the Koolau Mountains, trails, fishing, and campsites. People like to pose on the palm-tree-lined road heading into the park for social media-worthy photos!

The Sandbar, The town of Kaneohe and the Marine Corps base are right on the turquoise blue Kaneohe Bay, which has the largest saltwater sandbar in the world. People kayak or take larger boats out to enjoy snorkeling, picnics, and games. It's like being on the beach in the middle of the bay. The sandbar's Hawaiian name is Ahu O Laka, and from it, you can also see small islets including Mokoli'i, Chinaman's Hat, off the coast.

Golfing, Kaneohe has three highly-rated golf courses plus one more within the gates of MCBH: Koolau Golf Club, Bay View Golf Course, Pali Golf Course, and Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course. You might even spot former President Obama on the course!

What to Expect- The Market "

Kaneohe has something for everyone, whether you're looking for a single family home or a condo/townhouse there are plenty of possibilities. Kaneohe development picked up in the 60’s and 70s after the Pali High Tunnel was opened and the 20 minute commute became much easier on residents who worked in Honolulu's Urban Core. Today, what was once Hawaii's most fruitful lands, are now mainly residential homes. You’ll find a variety from completely revived luxury dwellings overlooking Kaneohe bay to modest family and community based neighborhoods with flourishing back yards and veggie gardens. In 2021 Kaneohe’s median SF  price increased to $1,111,500 with a 26% increase year over year. On average sellers in November 2021 alone received 106.9% over asking price in a speedy 9 days on market. While Kaneohe is still considered an affordable option comparatively, it is on par with the record growth we are seeing on Oahu overall.
